Abstract

This study provides an explanation of the isolation and screening of amylase producing bacteria from the soil collected from Bommakottai surrounding. Two bacterial strains with amylolytic activity on 1% starch agar are isolated and screened. One is Gram positive cocci and another one is gram positive rod shaped bacteria. The amylase production was confirmed by Flooding 1% iodine on starch agar. UV Mutagenesis plays a significant role in this study as it induce the isolated strain to improve the amylase production. The wild strain will be compared with mutant strain for the comparison of amylase production.
