About the Author
Dr. S.M.D.Mathuravalli, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., is currently serving as Vice Principal and Associate Professor at Holy Cross Home Science College, Thoothukudi, affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. She brings with her over 31 years of extensive experience in teaching, research, and extension activities in the field of Food Science and Nutrition.
Throughout her distinguished academic career, Dr. Mathuravalli has guided numerous postgraduate and M.Phil, scholars, making significant contributions to academic excellence and capacity building in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has actively participated in national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars, where she has presented research papers and earned several accolades, including Best Paper and Best Presenter Awards.
As a dynamic academic and passionate speaker, she has delivered numerous guest lectures at various universities and institutions, focusing on Food Science, Dietetics, and Family Welfare. She has held key academic leadership positions, such as Chairperson of the Board of Studies (Home Science)-overseeing seven boards and has served as a Senate Member at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. In addition, she serves as a Member of the SCAA, contributing to curriculum development and academic reforms at the state level. She is also an active subject expert and board member at multiple universities and academic institutions.
In recognition of her exemplary service and dedication, Dr. Mathuravalli has received several prestigious awards, including the Best Faculty Award for five consecutive years, Academic Excellence Award, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Excellence Award, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Excellence Award (2022), Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Education Excellence Award, and the International Award for Education Excellence, among others.
Dr. Mathuravalli has authored books and book chapters in her field and has successfully completed a UGC-sponsored research project on Improving the Nutritional Status of Salt Workers through Nutrition Education in Thoothukudi District.
